Quick Details
Paddle along the Waccamaw River and the surrounding creeks and swamps, shaded by beautiful Cypress trees draped in Spanish Moss. This tour generally has the easiest currents, so if you are concerned about being able to paddle, this is usually the easiest tour from a physical perspective. It is also much more shaded, so it’s a little cooler in the summer. The swamp is home to a Great Blue Heron Rookery (active in Spring), as well as numerous other birds. This tour also has a good number of snakes, turtles and sometimes alligators. The snakes are almost all nonvenomous, and all are harmless. If someone in your group is afraid of snakes but is willing to learn more about them, this is a great tour option for them.
